Frans Stroeven

Bruce Lee, Muhammad Ali, the Gracie family ... all these names have put martial arts on the map worldwide and made it immensely popular. But even here in the Netherlands we have a living legend who has spread the Filipino martial art eskrima around the world. His name is Frans Stroeven, a Dutchman with no Filipino roots, but with a rare talent and an explicit way of thinking about Eskrima that sets him apart from all others. According to Stroeven himself, his vision is best described as a unique blend of authentic Filipino heritage combined with a modern Dutch sauce based on his own personal experiences. Frans Stroeven developed the Stroeven Combat System with one specific goal in mind; to create a realistic form of self-defense for the 21st century! Stroeven, who has been active in Eskrima for almost 40 years and is considered one of the most influential martial artists within Filipino martial arts, has been giving seminars around the world for decades. In doing so, he has inspired many thousands of students to train in Filipino martial arts such as Eskrima, Knife Fighting and Pangamot (the latter is also known as dirty boxing).

Leonora Stroeven

Leonora Stroeven started Eskrima at the age of 14 under the guidance of her uncle Mario Talledo. This was the beginning of a great career in Eskrima.
It would take an entire book to list all of her accomplishments, but here are a few important milestones. World champion in full contact Eskrima. Many national Eskrima titles in the Philippines. Champion AFP-PNP Olympics (Armed Forces of the Philippines & Philippine National Police).
Leonora was not only known as a fighter, but she is also a unique talent in Eskrima as a martial art. She has been training with her husband Frans Stroeven since 2001, mixing Frans' style with her own. The art is still there, complemented by realistic dynamic fast actions with both stick and knife.
Leonora and Frans give seminars all over the world. If you want to see Leonora in action, go to her seminars and you will not only get a top seminar, but also see one of the best Eskrimador in action.
